About Us

What is a Lucid Breath Activation?

The Lucid Breath Activation uses a precise sequence of rhythmic breathing —from fast to slow, deep to subtle — to guide the body into a central nervous system reset, where habitual stress responses and deeply held patterns loosen and release.

Lucid Breathing is built on a three-part framework: state management, optimal oxygen assimilation, and the removal of negative past impressions.

“One transformational breathwork session is equivalent to two years of talk therapy”

DR HENRY SMITH ROHBERG

What is a Breath Activation?

A Breath Activation is a guided central nervous-system reset that works below the level of thinking.

Using a precise sequence of rhythmic breathing patterns — moving from fast to slow, deep to subtle — the body enters a state where habitual stress responses and deeply held patterns can loosen and release.

Lucid Breath isn’t a Woo—Woo Wellness Trend….

or a Superficial Band—Aid Solution

It’s a live, guided experience rooted in ancient yogic insight and modern nervous-system science — designed to help you enjoy your beautiful, bad-ass life exactly as it is.

With a guided MP3 and a salient PDF lesson summary, the internal resources you develop continue to deepen with practice — until calm, focused, present, and alert become your new default state.

The Ancient Yogis Were Right

Long before breathwork became a global wellness trend, Kriya Yoga used deliberate

breathing as a purification practice — a practical tool for better living.

The yogis understood that negative past impressions

accumulate over time

Therapists call it trauma.
Doctors call it stress..

The yogis called it samskara.

Over time, this emotional residue builds up:

Dampening presence

Diluting calm and focus

Amplifying emotional reactivity

Muting enthusiasm and joy

The Science

Modern Science

Is Catching Up

Neuroscience and respiratory physiology are now confirming what ancient breath practices understood centuries ago: how we breathe directly shapes how we think, feel, and respond.

Changing the rhythm, speed, and volume of your breathing toggles the nervous system from stress into regeneration.

“Breathing techniques can lower stress symptoms and help you enjoy a better quality of life.”

This builds autonomic flexibility — the ability to handle hard shit.

Learn to calmly tolerate rising carbon dioxide levels

The analytical

mind surrenders

Emotional patterns and triggers lose their charge

Resourceful responses become accessible

What to Expect From

Your Activation Experience

People report a wide range of outcomes — from emotional release and insight, to profound calm, to shifts in long-standing habits and patterns.

Every experience is different, and each session meets you where you are.

Sessions:

– Last about an hour

– Include time on either side to prepare and integrate

– Are guided by a certified instructor

– Are informed by functional breathing science and subconscious change work

With repeated sessions, the effects tend to compound. Many people notice a higher baseline mood, fewer reactive moments, and greater control over patterns that once ran on autopilot.

What Is A Breath Activation?

“One transformational breathwork session can be equivalent to years of talk therapy.”

Using a precise sequence of rhythmic breathing patterns — moving from fast to slow, deep to subtle — the body enters a state where habitual stress responses and deeply held patterns can loosen and release.

In this state, the analytical mind surrenders. Change that normally takes years of effort can occur directly and experientially.

The Invitation

If You’re Craving More Depth, More

Authenticity, More Joy — Here’s Your Invitation.

But might you be ready to feel better now?

Not by improving yourself.
Or depriving yourself.
Or downloading more content.

Lucid Breathing is addition by subtraction.
When accumulated stress dislodges from the system, your authentic true nature is more fully revealed.

This is a chance to expand your capacity to be present for the ones you love and you’ve worked so hard to build.

Meet Thomas Bell

Deliberate breathing is sacred territory for me — a quiet ritual that has shaped both my professional life and my inner journey since 2006.

At the time, I was a struggling executive, newly promoted to Senior Vice President and in over my head. Leading a large team came with real pressure — and my mind and emotions stopped cooperating. I couldn’t focus. I would erupt in hostility. I was spinning in a hamster wheel of dread and worry.

Breathwork changed that entire story in a single weekend.

Turns out, there was nothing “wrong” with me. The sanskara had built up.

When accumulated stress begins to release through the breath, something natural re-emerges — peace, clarity, authentic presence.

I learned that change can indeed come in an instant.

Over the last twenty years I’ve studied pranayama through the Art of Living, trained extensively in functional breath science, and became a board-certified hypnotist.

Who would have thought? The most potent tool for transformation on the planet is right under our nose — free for the taking.

Everything I teach now is the synthesis of that journey — ancient practice, modern neuroscience, and real-world application.

Today my focus is simple: help people feel better, now. Discreet. Rapid. Reliable. And unquestionably effective.

White Rock Lake,

It was like the
background music of my life had shifted from “kickin’ ass and takin names” to… “something bad is going to happen.”

I want to tell you a quick story, so that unfortunate phenomenon never happens to you.

Let’s harken back to the days of baggy suits and flip phones. A Senior Vice President promotion had been my sole obsession for half a decade.

When it arrived, I tripled my income overnight, and went from having six employees to 125.

The eyes of the world were on me. All I had to do now was execute.

But I was not my old self. Something was seriously….off.

It was as if my mind had contracted a virus.

As I adapted to my new role, I found myself buried beneath a mountain of emails, and missed calls.

I’d read a page of text and come back blank. Meet someone new and instantly forget his name.

Maybe you can you relate?

  • Unable to sustain focus and make sound decisions

  • Fragmented, forgetful, depleted, and restless

  • Filled with a constant sense of dread

Then, by the glorious grace of the Good Man Upstairs I received a random phone call from my dear old friend Arun Patel.

With his gentle urging, I enrolled in a weekend course centered around the ancient Yogic science of breathing.

That weekend, three gold-key-understandings opened a doorway that altered the trajectory of my entire life.

Grounded in Science
Inspired by Spirituality

Driven by Character

“You can feel his heart and soul embedded in every word.”

Shelly Howard

“Truly love this book, & am so grateful I came across it.”

Karen Hansen

“An engaging introduction to the power of breath.”

Jess Marion

“Simple yet profound.”

Julie Schrader

“A life-line in difficult times.”

Wendy Ward

“A mediation practice in its own right.”

John Flowers

“Truly a book for our time.”

Sally Flowers

“Bell’s journey is riveting, potentially life-altering.”

Michael Smith

Exhale Twice as Long weaves cutting edge scientific research into character driven stories and
mystical explorations to satisfy your logical mind and nourish your intuitive spirit.

Gold Key

Understanding

I Was Sympathetic Dominant: Stuck in Fight Or Flight

Yup. Lil Ole Me. Like a wounded animal tethered to a lap-top computer:

Jacked up on cortisol and adrenaline cocktail

Heart banging like a tennis shoe in a clothes dryer

Breathing rapid, ragged, high and shallow

Cognitive reasoning and IQ cut virtually in half

Turns out, our meat suits are designed to be in a stress response for about three minutes a day. I was camped out there like a weekend Netflix binge.

Colorful Characters Who Leap off the Page

The narrative unveils the Lucid Breathing protocol through the eyes of the individuals who helped develop it. Their extraordinary transformations will open your eyes and touch your heart.

Arun Patel

Then I felt a single tear exit my eyelid and roll all the way down my cheek. I didn’t bother to wipe it away. I left it there like war paint.

You leave here now, please,” he said softly.

“Understood,” I said, nodding to let him know I meant it. “But can I ask you a serious question before I show myself out? It is my job, after all.”

Shafts of sunlight splintered through the blinds, painting the shopkeeper in white stripes. He squinted his eyes and woggled his head again.

I pointed at the big statue behind the counter. It was four feet tall, magnificent, hand-carved in creamy dark wood. I couldn’t stop looking at it. “I’m curious. Why does that elephant have eight hands? I mean, what exactly do they signify?”

Everything was quiet for the longest time. Then he pressed his hands together at his heart center, closed his eyes, and bowed. “Om, Ganapati,” he murmured and then burst out laughing, flashing his perfect white teeth. “Very, very good, you!”

Peter Penrod

“I like the places Bob Dylan takes me” he announced, leaning back on the heels of his boots as if suspended by imaginary strings. He closed his eyes and took a long pull from a skinny cigarette.

“Yeah, me too,” I lied. “But...this one kind of goes on forever.”

“Name’s Peter,” he said, holding out a porcelain hand. “Peter Penrod.” His eyes flashed a quick twinkle at me, and I thought maybe he was kidding about his name. But it fit: he was a character, a throwback to the beatniks of the late ‘50s, oddly larger than life, donning a sparkling green fabric shirt and tight trousers tucked into knee-high boots.

We yucked it up throughout the entire show, surely annoying everyone around us. A throwback to the days of being well-read, Peter was remarkably familiar with rock music, art, literature, and—my personal favorite—Eastern spirituality.

When the concert was over, with the sun setting over the Dallas skyline and the temperatures cooling, I shook Peter Penrod’s hand, and knew we’d meet again.

Delightful Donna

Toward the end of the 45 minutes, in a voice so soft she had to lean in to hear me, I asked her: “Donna, what has your unique life experience taught you about life, and how can you use that to benefit others?”

Donna stared me down in silence for a full minute, her eyes brimming with tears. Intensity and conviction bubbling up inside of her. Then something shifted: I fully received the transfer of emotion, a silent download. My own eyes filled with tears.

"I married my high school sweetheart on a whim, and he liked to drink some whiskey in the evenings. It started with him teasing me a bit, then being slightly condescending and dismissive of my opinions. I gradually became the butt of his jokes. My weight. My intelligence. A competitive dynamic grew into a combative one laced with hostility and, eventually, contempt. He was stronger, and he was meaner. He never once raised a hand. He didn’t need to. Over time, he successfully convinced me I was worth about two whole cents. I came to believe it was true: I was flawed to the core—damaged goods.

Now, standing here, by the grace of God, slowly, day by day, I’m learning to believe that I matter. That I’m enough. I always have been enough. In fact, I am...more than enough."

Lives Changed by Lucid Breathing

“Lucid Breathing is my go-to. I use it daily during my commute in rush hour traffic on the PCH. I used to get constantly irritated and angry.”

“I used the 4-8-8 today while performing a dental extraction. No one was the wiser. I also use the expanded awareness technique when I entre my office every morning. It has been enormously helpful.”

“Honestly, I haven’t gotten around to reading your book just yet. But the title alone has been a game changer for me. Exhaling twice as long in the gondola has improved my performance on black diamond runs.”

Thomas attributes his rise from struggling door-to-door salesman to the executive suite to the practical application of communication science to achieve real-world results. At the height of his career, he gave away his belongings and set out on a round the world sabbatical — including six weeks in silent meditation and two years volunteering full-time at an Indian ashram, immersed in breathwork and Vedic study.

He is the creator of Lucid Breathing™, a system that combines ancient spiritual practices with cutting-edge neuroscience, and the founder of Fill the Space, a communication training for front-of-the-room leaders. He is also certified as an Oxygen Advantage™ Advanced Instructor and trained in SOMA Breathwork facilitation.

Today, Thomas runs Lucid Mynd, a Dallas-based consultancy offering breath-led experiences for mission-driven organizations. He believes profound presence is the solution to your problems — and the answer to your prayers.

When he’s not deliberately breathing by the window of his 90-year-old log cabin on White Rock Lake, he’s chasing Dead & Company across the country…or squirrels in the backyard with his Border Collie, Shanti.

All of Nature Longs to be in Balance

The tree’s exhalation of oxygen allows for our inhalation. Our exhalation of carbon dioxide allows the tree to inhale. You buy a book and deposit a little jingle-jangle into my front pocket. I help you to remember some things you may have forgotten.

No one comes into our life by accident. My silent prayer is that in the days ahead, something in these pages will speak to you so directly, so purely, that for a moment, you’ll think I composed it just for you.

Because I did.

Until then.

Any time you’re stressed, restless, or worried; any time you need to reset, recharge, or call a time out, all you have to do is exhale twice as long.
